John Deere Tractor recall: The US Consumer Product Safety Commission and John Deere have announced a voluntary recall of consumer lawn tractors model numbers D100, D110, D120, and D130. The tractors being recalled are in the standard John Deere green color scheme with yellow seats and yellow mower decks. The tractors have a 42 inch Edge Cutting System.
Purchasers are required to stop operating the John Deere riding mower immediately. Hardware that is used to hold the mower blade brake assemblies on the mower decks can break. This can cause the mower blades to spin longer than normal after the operator turns off the power, posing a laceration hazard. To date, there have been no reported injuries.
The recalled tractors were manufactured in the United States by Deere & Company of Moline, Illinois. They were sold through John Deere dealers, as well as Lowe’s and Home Depot stores across the United States between December 2010 and September 2011. The riding mowers were sold for between $1,500 and $2,000.
