FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YYG Charlottetown Airport Announces Testing Pilot Partnership with Canadian Health Labs

Charlottetown, PE – Starting January 13th, COVID-19 rapid antigen testing will be provided by Canadian Health Labs (CHL) at YYG Charlottetown Airport.

YYG Charlottetown Airport is pleased to partner with Canadian Health Labs to provide a rapid antigen testing option for travellers that require proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to departure.

“Canadian Health Labs is excited to participate in this important initiative with YYG Charlottetown Airport. CHL values the opportunity to provide our expertise during this challenging time”, stated Canadian Health Labs Senior Advisor – Atlantic Canada, Edmond Chiasson.

Since December 14th, travellers have been able to access a free rapid molecular test at YYG. This testing has been provided by the Province of PEI as an interim measure to assist air travellers over the holiday period, and will continue up to January 12th.

As announced in mid-December when this service was launched, YYG has worked to secure a private-sector fee-based testing service for air travellers. Several options are available for purchase and can be found here. Results, along with a travel medical document attesting to the results, will be available within 30 minutes of the test completion.

“We welcome Canadian Health Labs as our newest partner and tenant at YYG”, states YYG CEO Doug Newson. “We are pleased that the travelling public will have a convenient way of accessing rapid antigen test results in a timely manner for air travel. We also want to thank the Province of PEI for providing this service over the holiday period while we worked to secure this partnership.”

The test offered by CHL is a rapid antigen test only. Most countries, but not all, accept a rapid antigen test for entry. As entry requirements vary by country, and are changing on a regular basis, travellers are responsible to ensure they know what test is suitable for their destination.
