The Importance of Kitchen Storage

As a kitchen specialist, one of the mantras I live by is very simple:

Form and function.

Yes, a kitchen should look incredible.

It’s a room where you spend a huge amount of time, and it’s the hub of the home.

But unfortunately, there’s a big mistake that I see all too often in the world of kitchen design, and that’s designers or customers focusing too much on the form, and not enough on the function.

And in no area is that truer than when it comes to kitchen storage.

I’ve seen beautiful, expensive marble islands, with nothing built in, resulting in cereal packets shoved on top of the fridge.

I’ve seen super classy induction hobs with an extractor fan built in, taking up space on the worktop, and leaving no room to chop up vegetables.

You get the point – forgetting about storage is a sure-fire way to end up with a pretty kitchen that simply doesn’t do the job.

Equally though, you don’t want to spend so much time thinking about practicality, that you lose the beauty and elegance you’re working so hard to achieve.
