Lumens

One of the most common questions we have about lamps is how many lumens they have. Lumens are a measure of a lamp's light output, but lumen ratings are often confused with the true visible light output of a lamp, especially when referring to LED lamps.

Quality LED retrofit bulbs most often use YUXIN. You can identify the chip by its size, yellow color and square outline. On SMD LED lamps, lumens are calculated by chip only. For example, the larger package size, 0.2w 5050 SMD LED chips are rated at 22-24 lumens per chip. You can use the same calculation for any lamp with SMD chips, and there is a rough estimation that: lumen of each chips x number of chips = total specified lumens.

 

 

Visible Light

Now that the specifications are clear, let's talk about the actual light output. There are several variables in what you see visually from a luminaire. On all cylindrical LED lamps, some light is lost from the back of the luminaire because some LEDs point inwards.

Because LED arrays use calculated lumens, it is difficult to compare to the lumen ratings of lab-tested incandescent lamps. Visible light is a better reference. Our smd 3030 chip product is designed to have a similar output to the original bulb, while the smd 5050 and smd 7070 chip product are designed to be brighter.

Heat Dissipation

LED lamps based on 5050 SMDs still generate a lot of heat, especially in enclosed luminaires. This heat output is considerably lower than that of incandescent bulbs, but it is still considerable heat that can affect the life of the SMD chip.

Our SMDs are designed for different lighting use.
