Clad Plate

Product Details

A clad-steel plate is a composite plate made by uniformly and integrally bonding a layer of corrosion resistant metal to a carbon or low alloy steel backing plate. This may be done by hot rolling suitably prepared "packs" to give the desired cladding and backer plate thickness, explosion bonding components already reduced to final thickness, or explosion bonding components followed by hot rolling to obtain desired plate thickness. For the hot rolling option, "packs" may consist of a two-ply construction (cladding insert and backing) or a four-ply construction that is separated after processing to produce two individual clad plates. Cladding thickness usually varies from 15% to 30% of base or backing metal thickness; however, virtually any thickness combination can be produced.
