ALTech UK have developed an innovative 3-roller labelling machine, on behalf of Staffordshire Brewery (also known as Leek Brewery), that can provide both full wraparound or front-back wraparound labelling in combination with a registered neck label, for their beer bottle contract requirements. This complex range of labelling formats is normally only achievable on vastly more expensive rotary labelling machines. And, not only is the ALline 3-roller labelling system extremely economical vs. traditional rotary systems, there is no need to change parts for varying bottle requirements, ensuring optimum flexibility and extremely quick changeovers.

This innovative system was built to Staffordshire Brewery’s specific requirements and includes an inline coding unit for batch traceability as standard. The machine was designed for both 330ml and two types of 500ml bottles, and is comfortably capable of labelling up to 2,000 bottles p/hour. Higher specification 3-roller machines can be configured to deliver more than 3,000 bottles p/hour, beyond which ALTech’s direct wraparound solutions offer applications in the region of 15,000 bottles p/hour, depending on the size of the bottle.

The ALline 3-roller solution is extremely versatile; able to apply a variety of labelling styles and materials (including transparent labels) to a wide range of cylindrical products. The bespoke nature of the system, and ability to match the inclination of the labelling head precisely to any taper angle of the bottle or container means that even the more challenging tapered products can be labelled with the highest degree of accuracy. The ALline 3-roller can be integrated as part of an inline operation or configured as a standalone machine with infeed and outfeed tables to suit individual customer requirements.
