The Louisville Zoo wants to bring in giant, animatronic dinosaurs this summer.Zoo officials are requesting $225,000 from the Metro Council as part of an effort to boost visitors after a year of COVID-19 impacts.Right now, the plan would bring 20 animatronic dinosaurs to the zoo from June 12 to Sept. 12. The contract fee would cover the rental fee for the exhibit, installation, transportation, education content, and maintenance and signage.The zoo says it wants to "enhance the zoo experience" for guests by adding the traveling exhibit, which they believe will help maintain membership and attendance levels through this exhibit.The animatronic dinosaurs would come from a Pennsylvania company called Dino Don, Inc. The company has been making dinosaur exhibits since 1993 in North America, Asia and Europe. Watch footage of the display in the player above.And fun fact, the guy behind the exhibit, "Dino Don," says he was Steven Spielberg's dinosaur advisor on "Jurassic Park." The Louisville Mega Cavern is currently hosting a different dino display until May 2. The exhibit called the Dino Safari lets people "travel back in time to experience earthquakes and dinosaur battles." And it can be done safely from the car -- it's a drive-thru.
