I purchased this to refill proprietary (and expensive) Simplehuman Foaming Soap Dispenser - I love this dispenser, charge lasts a long time (every 3 to 5 months depending on usage) but those 10 ounce cartridges are expensive considering that foaming soap is at least 65% water. So with Castile soap (1/3 of 10 oz jar, 2/3 DISTILLED Water), tablespoon Almond oil, 6 drops of pure Vitiamin "E" oil and natural scent essence oils (great combination samplers here on Amazon, buy best brand with most scent samples) - you can mix your own scents and a few even have natural disinfectant properties for bathroom use without anti-biotics or chemicals. So, at first I used this syringe to refill cartridges because brass tip is exact fit for refilling cartridge, you need to hold the little silicon air release valve on top of cartridge "open" using a toothpick while filling otherwise container become pressurized and soap mix will come out as fast as you can fill it, sometimes that silicon valve will fall into container - so an easier way (see YouTube video) to fill these containers is to heat the top cap with extremely hot tap water until it expands/softens enough to pry off with a flat bladed knife like a butter knife - wide flat dull blade or even a flexible flat metal paint scraper would work to pry of top, faster than filling with syringe, but the other purpose for this syringe is to clean and maintain your Simplehuman electric foaming soap dispenser - the biggest complaint about these (I think they are by far the best dispensers available)- is they no longer produce foaming soap after a few refills - this is caused by soap residue inside the pumping tubes, valves, and pump itself. Cleaning is simple using this syringe - just fill with very hot tap water, attach vinyl hose (included) you may have to heat the tip of vinyl hose first - I use a cigarette lighter for this - to soften the vinyl - so it stretches wide enough to fit on the plastic input nipple under the simplehuman outside skirt where the cartridge plugs into the pump assemble - attach the hose from syringe to the input nipple, turn on pump at highest setting (3 foam soap amounts setting - put on highest) and operate pump while pushing on syringe plunger - this will flush out entire pumping system cleaning out all old soap residue from internal plumbing, air venture valves, and the pump mechanism itself - the same path the liquid soap travels - the hot water dissolves it all and it come out of the soap nozzle - I usually run 2 full syringes of very hot tap water through the dispenser, then carefully clean the pump nozzle with hot water and a clean washcloth to remove any hardened soap around the motion sensor and output nozzle - this device effectively cleans the internals of this pump and assuming nothing else is wrong or broken, the dispenser will operate like new. I have 3 dispensers, one in each of my bathrooms - all different scents from the kit of 8 or 12 essence oil sampler I bought here on Amazon for less than $20. I clean the dispensers when they stop producing foam usually after 3 refills.
Of course this would also make a great turkey, roast, suckling pig meat baster - it is sturdy, easy to clean, tips are brass (or brass coated metal), easy to disassemble plunger from syringe casing, I wouldn't try dropping on hard floor as it does look and feel like glass and will probably shatter, volume markings are easy to read, measuring is precise, tip is threaded, plunger is solid heavy duty plastic with a rubber or silicone "O"-Ring, needs to be kept clean and lubricated for positive pumping action (use food grade oil - used in cooking) - a well built, sturdy basting syringe and useful accessories included.
